If you use a good time tracker like Paymo (http://www.paymo.biz) the whole process won't be a pain and the benefits are far reaching.

Hi Kelly,
One of the things we've seen with QuickBooks for Mac customers is that they spend a lot of time re-entering data from other time tracking tools or spreadsheets. To address this pain point, we developed Intuit My Time, which integrates with QuickBooks 2010 for Mac. It pulls in customers and service items from QuickBooks for Mac, lets you start and stop a timer or directly enter time spent, and send your activities to QuickBooks for invoicing or save a tab-delimited file that can be opened in most spreadsheet applications.

Thought this might be of interest given your focus on Mac users and this post about time tracking.

Best,
Will Lynes
